Hawthorne Mall

The Charles Company is converting the Hawthorne Mall, located at Hawthorne Boulevard and 120th Street, into a mixed-use project of at least 385,000 square feet of office space and retail. The three-level mall, which closed in the mid-90's, will be redubbed South Bay Center One and total 900,000 square feet upon completion between 2004-2006.

On August 30, 2002, Mayor Guidi and Mayor Pro Tem Ginny M. Lambert were part of a group of 40 Hawthorne residents who took a tour of the old Hawthorne Plaza Mall which is being remodeled into office space for 700 L.A. County Employees in the first stage of a re-configuration by the Charles Company.

Charles Company President Arman Gabay, conducted the tour. The new office space will occupy the site of the former Montgomery Ward store. Occupancy is set for October 2002.
