Mayor Larry Guidi

After serving two years as a City Council Member, Mayor Guidi has served as Mayor of the City of Hawthorne for the past 13 years. He has been overwhelmingly re-elected by the voters in the past 4 elections and ran unopposed in the November 2005 election.

His strong work ethic and deep family commitment have been made apparent through his dedication to the betterment of Hawthorne. He and his wife have four daughters, all of whom were born and raised in Hawthorne, and have been educated in the Hawthorne school system.

Mayor Guidi is proud of the many commercial developments he has been instrumental in bringing to Hawthorne. For this reason, he created an "Economic Development Committee" which is comprised of two City Council members and members of City staff. The goal of this committee is attraction of new businesses and retention of existing businesses through assurance of success and longevity. His experience in International Trade Investment and Construction Management has proven beneficial in this objective.

Mayor Guidi is known for his "hands on" leadership in all facets of his role as Mayor. He continually works with neighborhood groups and makes himself available to residents on a one on one basis to ensure that their concerns are heard and addressed - he has become known as "The People's Mayor".

Mayor Guidi's passion for the City of Hawthorne keeps him continually seeking out ways to improve the quality of life for the residents and children of the "City of Good Neighbors".
