Paying a Citation
On the front of parking citations are instructions on how to pay the parking penalty. You must pay the parking penalty within twenty-one (21) days from the date the citation was issued. Failure to pay the penalties due will result in additional penalties being added and the possible withholding of your vehicle registration by the Department of Motor Vehicles (CVC 4760). Vehicles with 5 or more outstanding citations may subject your vehicle impoundment CVC 22651.7, 22651(i)(1). In addition, you may be subject to a civil judgment that could lead to the garnishment of wages and seizure of property (CVC 40220).
Payments may also be made;
By mail. Remit payment to the agency listed on the Original Parking Citation or on the Notice of Illegal Parking. Pay by Check or Money Order only, do not send cash.
