The Detective Bureau of the Hawthorne Police department is responsible for investigation of all felony crimes/complaints, and select-misdemeanor crimes/complaints. A Lieutenant, three Sergeants, and sixteen investigators staff the Detective Bureau. The Bureau is divided into three sections - Adult crimes, Juvenile Crimes, and Narcotics. When calling to inquire about a case, please have your report number available. This number is referred to as a "DR number", and begins with the last two numbers of the year that the report was made, followed by four to seven numbers, ie: 06-0001. This will assist the staff in determining the current status of your case, and the name of the investigator assigned to it.
