The Hawthorne Police Department Reserve Corps is comprised of men and women from local communities who have chosen to serve in law enforcement on a part-time basis.
Police Reserve Officers provide invaluable service to the department and to the citizens of Hawthorne. Often referred to as "Citizen Officers", the candidates must undergo the same selection process as our full time officers, and attend a minimum of six months academy training to prepare them for service.
The Reserve Corps will accept applications on a continuous basis. Only applicants who have successfully completed a P.O.S.T. (Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training) Level 1 or Level 2 academy will be considered. Following prescreening, qualified applicants will be contacted for further testing.
For information regarding the Hawthorne Police Department Reserve Corps and potential openings, contact the Reserve Coordinator at (310) 349-2700 or e-mail. Applications can be obtained at the Police Department's front desk.
