Records Bureau

The responsibility of the Hawthorne Police Department's Record Bureau is to accurately process and maintain crime and arrest reports in order to provide current and historical crime data to Patrol, Detectives and to the Public.

The Records Bureau operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. To meet this obligation, the Records Bureau is currently staffed with (1) Civilian Bureau Supervisor, (2) Shift Supervisors, and (11) Clerks. We are open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are closed on Sundays and Holidays.

  • Part I Crimes 2000 through 2007

The Records Bureau performs various administrative duties. Examples of Records duties are:

  • Work the counter to assist the public with obtaining various types of information.
  • Register drug offenders. Click for more info.
  • Assist Officers and Detectives with investigative information they may need to obtain for a case.
  • Retrieve from and send information to County, State, Interstate, National and International computer systems and agencies.
  • Enter Stolen Vehicles, Stolen Property and Missing Persons into State and National databases.
  • Enter police reports into our internal database analysis and retrieval.
  • Prepare and submit standardized statistical reports to the California Department of Justice and the FBI.
  • Prepare the misdemeanor cases to be filed by the City Attorneys.
  • Answer phone inquiries.
