If a major catastrophic event were to occur, have you thought about your animal friends that many consider part of the family?

The main focus in any disaster is to ensure that your loved ones are safe and secure.  After having taken care of the needs of the family and neighbors, what steps have you followed to ensure that the needs of your four legged friends are met?  Consider the following points:

Do your pets have enough water, Are their vaccinations up-to-date, Do you have a carrier appropriate for transporting, Have you "microchipped", is there a pet first aid kit,  have you snapped a recent photo of you and your animal for ID purposes?   These and many more points are included on the attached on the PET AND DISASTER SAFETY CHECKLIST.  Please take the time to be informed and follow the American Red Cross' advice on how to care for your furry friends. Thanks.

Remember, preparing for an emergency doesn't happen until you get up and do something about it.
